Face the challenge together

Industry Peer Groups are small groups of company executives who meet regularly to discuss issues of business and personal interest. They typically consist of 6-10 business leaders from non-competitive markets.

Learn and share with people who understand your industry

Rapid change and uncertainty are now the everyday environment in which organizations operate.

Ensure your company is ready to face the future. Learn from and share insights with the people who understand your challenges best – other companies in your industry.

No single organization has a monopoly on good ideas. Other companies in your industry are facing the same issues, questions and problems.

What are the benefits?

By bringing together industry peers, groups can work to find unique solutions to common issues and challenges. You can:

  • Learn about and share industry best practice
  • Share resources to achieve common goals
  • Collectively solve problems to avoid wasting time ‘re-inventing the wheel’
  • Obtain new ideas and perspectives
  • Gain exposure to potential new business opportunities
  • Share and solve industry specific challenges
  • Find a sounding board for ideas/concerns with non-threatening feedback
  • Create actionable ideas, ready to implement in your business
  • Gain access to possible national or global joint marketing alliances

Many trade organizations recognize the power of Industry Peer Groups and sponsor local groups as a valuable service for members.

Do you qualify?

Participating in an Industry Peer Group isn’t for everyone. You need to be:

  • prepared to maintain strict confidentiality and high integrity;
  • willing to participate and share;
  • a progressive thinker/innovator who is open to new ideas;
  • an open communicator and willing to share all information; and
  • willing to make the necessary commitment of time and money.

Individual groups set the agenda to suit their particular needs and challenges. Typical issues include:

  • Organizational structure and development
  • Human resources
  • Business development
  • Information technology
  • Operations management
  • Financial management

How are they structured?

  • Industry Peer Groups meet 3 to 4 times a year for around 4 hours to a full day.
  • Follow-up calls between meetings provide additional support and communication.
  • Members alternate as meeting host, or sessions are held in conjunction with industry functions.
  • Groups are perpetual and continue for as long as there is interest and members derive value from the meetings.
